Profile An experienced academic sinologist and linguist, with experience in international research project management, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and department coordination. Fields of interest include Chinese sociolinguistics and pragmatics, historical linguistics, intercultural communication, politeness research, discourse and conversation, and language and gender, as well as Chinese epistolary culture, historical Chinese philology and literature, and teaching Chinese as foreign language.
Field of Research: traditional and modern Chinese (im)politeness, Chinese institutional discourse, politeness research, discourse analysis, historical Chinese pragmatics and sociolinguistics, Chinese linguistics, historical Chinese letter writing, Chinese business and legal language, and theories on terms of address
